What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine, sterile, single-use needles into carefully selected points on the body.

This gentle stimulation encourages the body’s natural healing response by increasing local blood flow, helping to reduce pain, relax muscles and encourage natural healing.

Research suggests it can also influences how pain signals are processed by the nervous system, making it an effective treatment for many musculoskeletal conditions.

For many people, acupuncture helps relieve muscle tension, restore movement and support recovery from both acute and persistent pain.

My approach:

My treatments combine medical acupuncture with clinical myofascial release, including facial and intraoral techniques, tailored to your individual needs.

I begin by discussing your symptoms and assessing the relevant muscles, gently feeling for areas of tightness, tenderness and restricted movement. Drawing on my additional training in clinical myofascial release, I use targeted hands-on techniques around the head, jaw, neck and shoulders.

For jaw-related symptoms, treatment may include intraoral myofascial release, working with a gloved hand on muscles inside the mouth that can be difficult to access externally. I explain each technique beforehand and only proceed with your consent, adjusting pressure to your comfort.

Where appropriate, I then incorporate acupuncture as part of your treatment plan, with the aim of easing pain and muscular tension, and supporting more comfortable movement.

Each session is tailored to your symptoms, comfort and response. I also offer practical self-care advice to support your progress between appointments and work alongside other healthcare professionals where appropriate.
